Guys,

I'm looking to buy an 11-87 Sportsman synthetic 12 ga this week. I want a good field gun that I can also shoot clay pigeons with a couple times a year. Currently they are $499 at Dick's.:thumb:

Any experience with them?

Thanks,
Ed

They are a good gun, very versatile. Killed some deer with one:D

I do like my 1100's better though, they keep going up in value and are built like tanks.

I dont think you can go wrong buying a new remington. Mine NEVER jam.

Thanks to you Ed, I just bought an 11-87 Premier 20 ga. off of that sight you directed me too. I haven't had time to shoot it yet.

Eric and Alex both have 11-87's, I think both are Supermag's but I'm not sure. They seem like really nice guns and cycle somewhat okay. They have trouble shooting lighter loads sometimes, but I'm guessing that's because of the setup for 3 1/2's

I took mine completely apart Saturday and cleaned it, not the easiest shotgun to clean but not that difficult once you get the hang of putting all the action back together.

I think both Eric and Alex got the same deal last year from Dick's

Yeah, I was avoiding the Super Mag since I have never turkey/duck hunted before. The better gun to handle the 2 3/4 for me is fine.

My brother has a Mossberg 535. If I want to shoot 3 1/2 for anything I'll borrow it.

Thanks for the replies.

X2 I had a 1187 for awhile and I never had a problem with it, The only reason I sold it was I already had two 1100's that I prefered....

DO IT ED!!!! I rocked the 870 express for a good 10 years and finally broke down and got the 11-87 supermag with the camo pattern. I havent got to turkey hunt with it yet but I have thrown down some mean shooting on some crows/pigeons and dove. I love the gun and regret not getting one sooner.

I do alot of shooting 10-12k rounds a year. 11-87 are ok for the money. I would spend a little more and get a beretta 391. They seem to be more reliable. 11-87's don't like thousands of rounds of light loads. They jam on a steady basis. I am anal about cleaning guns and they are not my favorite. I love the beretta. It is way more reliable with light loads. All guns jam regardles. It all depends on what you like and can afford. Just thought I would throw my .02's worth in the subject.

My buddy just bought one of these, looks and feels like a decent gun!

Well I prefer benellis after owning my m2. It's reliable as can be. Easy to clean. But what like most is consistency in the product. Mic the bore out on three 11-87s or 870s. Gaurantee you they're all different. Thn do it to three benellis or berettas. You'd be shocked. I still own an 870 too but remingtons quality has fallen off IMO

You couldn't give me a benellis. Way over priced and over rated. I know 3 guys that can't shoot off the shelf shells for turkey becuase the grouping sucks. My 870 kills them. JMHO

It's all about the choke at that point.

I prefer pumps over semis, Ive debating on buying a 870 express turkey camo for $360 or the 870 express combo for $500

Get the 870 express deer combo in the drab green color.:thumb:

Just got my 11-87 today. No time to shoot it. My lowering shackles showed up and were begging to be installed when they were sitting on my door step.:D
