Was it something in the trans? I'm anxiously waiting to hear what you're working on.

More than anything, I like the "slingshot" effect it has. You spool/rev up a little and then it slings you away. It does lock up a little hard, but at least that way I know its locking! I had a couple of 5-stars and after a while they seemed to get a rattle to them at idle.

I just hate the way the thing locks. I drove Rob's 1057 and it locks much smoother.

did you do anything special to the cutback valve.

lockup can be really smoothed out with a good trans tune. Would you mind sending me your TCM file? I have some changes that will probably either fix it, or make it much smoother than it is now.

My trans is built almost identically to IdahoRob's (except I have Kolene's in the C3/4 and the 1058 instead of the 57) and his locks much smoother than mine. I'll try to get a copy of my trans tune to you soon.

I loaded a modifyed stock TCM tune Josh, and with my ATS, it made everything shift ALOT smoother.

I'd give tranny tuning a shot first.

A 2-3 lb stronger spring behind F-trim valve will do wonders. Bully dog beige trim spring will work.

LOL...Yea the rattler. Mine has done it since I put it in.

Put the 1058 in a friends truck. Still working on the tune, feels like it locks about the same as the ATS, cant say on the slingshot effect, truck isnt making full power yet.

I actually stretched mine out last time I had the pan pulled. I had no idea what I was doing, I just wanted to pretend I was mike L for 5 minutes, trying out new stuff. :D

Lockup seems a lot more progressive, starts smoothly, then ramps up fast and positively, without being harsh. I dont know, maybe I got lucky? Maybe what I did didnt actually do anything? But I really like the way mine locks.

Thanks Mike. I'll have to give this a try. Does bully dog sell just the spring? Where can I get one?

I had BIG DIPPER refresh mine.

I went with the ML/Precision and he did some tweaks, didn't ask what he did, didn't watch what he did, I left it up to him.

My transmission shifts perfect with a stock 2001 tcm calibration and nothing else altered in teh tcm.

I realize the 6-speed tcm works a bit different, but going from a 1050 to a ML/Precision was night and day.

I picked up 2/10 with the TC swap.........:D

Tony you always cut really good 60 foots with your 1050, and with the co-pilot on, your trans always locks teh converter as soon as you hit second gear. So how did the TC swap net you .2 off your ET?

Or did you add something else to your truck too.....mr. sneaky :D

TCC comes in half way through second gear. I don't believe the 1050 ever coupled under those conditions, it was multiplying tq till it locked.

This is OT I guess...but why does the TCC sometimes not come on right away? The 01 TCM is better at getting with the program and locking the converter fast... Is the TCM just freaking out? Does the TCM need to see a maximum of "X" RPM difference between input speed and turbine speed before it allows converter lockup? If I hold the F solenoid applied (manually grounded, with a wire) in first gear, it locks HARD as soon as it shifts into second...why cant the TCM do this?
