I am looking at installing subs behind the seat too, but most of the setups I see have the sub right against the back of the seat. This doesn't affect performance by restricting the sub? I was thinking of trying to countersink the sub in the box to increase the room to move.

I made my own sealed box out of 3/4" MDF that fits behind the seat. I had to cut a little around the plastic trim piece below the rear window, and I had to remove that little spring-loaded flip-up tray. But it fits perfectly.

Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1d with an alpine MRD-M605. I dont care about blowing the windows out of the truck, I just wanted a little more bass to back up the increased volume/sound quality of the Bose speakers when I upgraded to the Lux amp...the luxury Bose amp plays much louder/clearer than the stock Bose amp, and at higher volumes the speakers would overpower/drown-out the stock 6.5" sub...so I added the 10" sub to balance it out.

Mines in the seat :thumb: 500 watt amp under the back seat. Shallow mount pioneer. Hits pretty decent as well. Very small cubic footage on the box, but it requires only a little as the sub is literally a few inches deep.

where do you get this bose amp ben?

What year truck do you have? You need to have a 03-07 (classic) truck that already has Bose. Basically you just swap the amp out (have to swap some of the pins in the connectors around), reprogram the radio, and you get much better sound. Its not going to blow away any expensive aftermarket system, and the "all factory is junk, go with aftermarket" guys will snicker at me, but for the cost of the upgrade and how easy it is (basically plug and play, dont have to change all the speakers out etc)...it adds enough power and clarity so you can turn it up loud enough to hear the music with all the windows down at 80mph WITHOUT distorting.

With the stock "non-luxury" Bose amp, it would distort at that volume level (loud enough to hear with all the windows down on the highway).

You can find them on ebay, wrecking yard. Only the 03-06 denali's and 03-06 Escalades had the proper amp to swap into the 03-07 classic trucks. Expect to pay 150-200 bucks. Like I said, im not trying to sell it as something thats as good as a $1,000+ aftermarket system...(now im sure all the aftermarket stereo snobs are going to come in with "oh well I spent less than $1000 and it sounds much better than that piece of shit")...it is what it is, and considering you can upgrade to the Luxury Bose amp for barely more than JUST the cost of adapters alone to make an aftermarket radio work in our trucks, its a bargain.

If you want to hear what it sounds like for yourself before you do it, find someone with an 03-06 Denali or Escalade, and bring along a CD (make sure its a good quality CD, not something burned with crappy 64kbps MP3 files), adjust the bass/treble/DSP settings, and see if it sounds good to YOU and is worth $200 to you.

Im not going to make this an "aftermarket stereo vs. stock stereo debate" and I dont want this thread to get crapped up with all the aftermarket-stereo guys slamming me, everything I said above is merely my own stupid opinion.

Ben

EDIT: If you have a 07.5+ truck, you can also do the Luxury Bose upgrade with an 07+ escalade/denali amp...but I have no experience how to do the upgrade in the 07.5+ trucks. Its the same idea (swap in the amp, reprogram the radio, change some of the pins on the connectors), but I dont know the specifics.

I have a JL Audio 13W5 under my rear seat everything folds normal. I also have a center console stealth box that I have not removed yet. The 13W5 is awsome musical yet sitll capable of going low.

Well. Maybe if your into audio and actually know what your doing, it would pay, but I don't, so I guess it pays me to just buy it.

^^. Hey maybe you can start building boxes for us! Just a thought
