I've read until blue in the face about recommended fluids. My stock '09 LMM has 55k on it and I am starting to tow a 12k 5th wheel toy hauler.

The manual calls for Dex VI, but I read Mobile I DelVac ATF (TES-295 "Approved...") is superior for longevity and inhibiting wear, shifting quality, etc. Then I read TES-295 is Dex III, I don't get it.

I cannot find Transynd or Mobile I DelVac ATF (TES-295) ATF in Alaska and it looks as if no one wants to ship to Alaska.

Regardless, my question is what should I use, if I can find it I'll get it up here somehow? I am prepared to do the double drain to go full synthetic.

Edit: I found Mobil DelVac ATF locally, but not labeled Mobil I DelVac ATF. is there a difference? It is stated as TES-295 "Approved"

Thanks for the help. Larry

Their web site says no due to hazardous regulations from the shipper. Wish they did, at $29/gal its a steal. NAPA wants $52/gal.

I'm still not sure Mobil DelVac tex-295 is good for my '09, I don't understand why the 295 rating is considered DEV III when my specs call for DEV VI.

Thanks for the thought...:thumb:

You have to watch those descriptions very carefully. I would make sure it says SYNTHETIC and it should say Mobil 1 and TES-295 approved. There are some similar descriptions in advertisements that may not be what you want. If there is ANY DOUBT, call the seller and find out.

I't's easy enough to do the 'hoot method' (dump the old fluid coming back to the trans from th cooler while keeping new clean fluid flowing into the trans pan) to change our your trans fluid. Better, and cheaper, than doing a dump and fill 2 times.

BurnDown, we're just West of Wasilla, Meadow Lakes, just before Houston.

Mike, thanks, I'll assume good for my '09 and will use it.

Ron, I'll attach a photo of what NAPA offers, the container doesn't specify Mobil I but the p/n is the same as the ones that do, looks like the real deal to me. I'll check into that HOOT method, hope I don't need my hands and both feet to do it, ha ha.

I assume being OE my pan is the shallow pan? What would the rough dimension be for a shallow pan?

I appreciate the quick responses from you all!

I spent 14 winters in Fairbanks, it’s the atf I run in my 04.5’. Most of the bulk oil plants carry that oil. The Napa one you posted looks the same to me.

Uggh, Fairbanks! Spend time over the years there there doing construction and passing through to Manley Hot Springs building a school, -40 walking from the springs hut to the hotel in shorts, body temp was crazy hot as was the hot spring. That was in my younger years :D
