Hey guys I haven't put up any new pictures of our new truck, it's a 08 gmc, I don't want to put a tuner or even a full exhaust or cut the particulate filter off or anything, but I'm looking for alittle more sound without any codes.... The truck doesn't have the black box, it's earlier 08 year so not the full emissions bullshit, if I just cut the last muffler off and put a straight pipe in there, would there be any codes? Or has anyone done this? How's the sound difference? And is there any websites the have a section of piping for that? I really wanna keep the stock exhaust look... Thanks for any insight!

On the DPF equipped trucks, removing the muffler makes pretty much no difference in sound. It will not set any codes with just the muffler removed either.

All 08s have the emission bs on them. Early 07s dont. Get a cat back aftermarket system will make it a little louder without throwing codes but not much. The dpf reduces noise a lot. I would not hack up the stock exhaust if I was you.

Well then what's those black boxes that they started putting them on in 08? Because we have a 08 freight liner sprinter without the emissions shit I'm pretty sure

Had a friend who put a straight pipe in place of his stock muffler, and it really made no difference in sound. Only way to really make one louder is to remove the DPF.
