07 Cadillac with Dmax. LB7 or LBZ 5 or 6 sp?

I found a high milage 07 Cadillac ESV fully loaded with 7 screens, 26" wheels and mint condition. The wife drives about 90 miles a day so I would like to put in a Dmax that gets the best milage. I have alot of LB7 stuff I will probably use it. What is the best milage setup for an LB7? Will put rods, delip the pistons and have them coated and head studs. Thats about it for the long block. Turbo? dual fueler? trans? 5 or 6? What do you guys sugest for the best milage?

well seeing as you are starting with an 07 GMT-900 Escalade, you're going to HAVE to do an LMM because nothing on the body will work with an LB7-LBZ ECM/engine.

Here's something to think about

Cost of a Duramax engine swap = 5200+ gallons of premium fuel at today's price = 83,000ish miles @ 16 mpg. Doesn't make since to spend lots of money to save very little.

On the other hand.

Duramax swap into a Caddy for cool factor = PRICELESS!

I don't think a escalade is going to get 16 mpg

Whatever motor is in it It's not going to be great vehicle going 90+ miles a day it will be expensive no matter what

I want to build it to just be the odd ball:rofl:. We looked at the BMW 335D but she wants to stay with somthing big:D. I did find an LMM drive train for 5k with 32,000 miles on it. Will call Dan at PPE on Tuesday and see what he has to say. Would still like to be able to pull a boat or the LB7 to far away races :thumb:. Dmitri thinks I'm crazy but thats the fun off it.:happy2: Plus I get free fuel but not the low sulfer crap that I would have to run in the BMW.

I don't think that ESCALADE is any bigger or much heavier than my BURB, and I'm averaging 20 mixed driving right now if I can keep my foot out of it. I know there are some OH SH!T factors as well when working with the 07+ SUV's and transplanting a DMAX. I remember Eric saying he had to unplug something or other to get one of his to work properly after doing one.

I was reffering to what Diesel pilot said about it getting 16 mpg with the 6.2 gasser

Well I found one on Ebay one that has an LBZ with a six speed, Yukon 2500 frame and 04 ESV body. I talked to the guy and he said that the frame on the ESV is only a half ton frame and to make it a true 2500 you have to use a suburban or yukon 2500 frame and use the axles from a donner truck. Guess I will have to start looking for a sub or yukon or just wait to see if GM puts a 4.3 in one:mad:
