So i've about had it with the stock pizza cutter tires. Not a huge upgrade, but have some 17x8.5 all chrome gunner 6's in the shop i'd like to put on after winter comes and goes.

My problem (and maybe im not looking into the right outlets) is tire load ratings, seems to be a hell of a time finding something in the 275/50ish range with atleast an "E" rating...anyone have some input? I only seem to come up with Nitto's and would like to just compare some others as well.

Also: wondering how well a cheetah is for towing? not looking to go huge, but would be nice to get a little more punch when towing (yes trans will be a part of the solution as well).

Truck is a DD, tows 45,000lbs 3mo a year in the fall, and bumper pulls a 20,000lb trailer in the spring minus other farm jobs that are lighter in weight (loader/backhoe, etc.) would like to stick to a good a/t tire and just can't find much...

Thanks,
Dave

I hope you mistyped cause Gunner 6s are 6 lug wheels
for tire size your going to want a 265 or 285/70/17, 275/50 is 28" roughly thats smaller than the stock tires
Nitto terra grapplers are great a/t tires except their not the best on getting alot of miles out of them

doesnt matter tire size if its close to stock, and yes meant 8's*.

Had a set of 275/50/20's this past summer for highway only tires and loved how the truck looked. But i need something with some tread and a little give since it'll always be bouncing in the field, but hate the huge 70/75 sidewalls on the stockers.

Yeah you are not going to find much in lo pro with a LRE. 285/70R16 D range are rated for more weight then the 245/75R16 E range just because of having a larger air cavity.
For turbo wise I have never ran a cheetah but for the money just get yourself a set of twin and have one badass tow machine. There is nothing that I have had that tows like twins. Its effortless and you dont have to gauge watch.

well lets talk a mid-profile tire...anything out there lol? the stock sidewalls could come down in size just a little bit lol.

A higher mileage tire would be nice, its not too far off to say the truck def. rolls some miles now :p

You will have to go to a bigger wheel for that. 18" 65 series 20" 60 and 55 series for LT tires. Remember the second number is the percentage of the section width. Example:
285/70R17 285mm (11.2") 70% of that is 7.85" of sidewall.

You'll find a ton of 265/70-17 and 285/70-17 tires in an E load range.

What kind of bumper pull trailer are you towing that weighs 20k lbs? That's heavy equipment pintle type trailer weight range. Way too heavy for a bumper pull on a pickup unless it is a wagon style trailer.

tandem axle loaded with seed and 400gal diesel, we just drop it in one spot in the field for the planting rig and i just run off the 250gal. tank in the back of the truck since i've just got the tillage outfit.

The DMI cushn hitch has held up for almost 5 years now!
