I have an 05 GMC duramax and have been thinking about selling it and buying an 08. Can anybody give me some feedback on the 08's. Like is the 08 duramax engine as good as the 05.

Just that the DPF sucks, if you live somewhere you can ditch it I would. Trucks themselves are awesome, I love the NBS interior.
Thank you Kat. I had mine removed on my 05. No state inspections in SD. On the newer trucks will it set off any sensors or anything? Or is it just something that can be removed with out any ill affects?

Your 05 didn't have DPF. If you removed your would have to shut off the code with something like EFILive.
