Hello again… It’s probably been 10+ years since I have been on here. So long I had to re-register with a new screen name.
On to the fun part. My truck died about 5 years ago and for lots of reasons I am just now trying to fix it. At the time I was driving around with a slight tick/knocking noise (think a small block Chevy with a valve that is out of adjustment) Driving down the road it finally just died. CP3 stopped pumping fuel because there are so many missing teeth on the drive gear.
The good part… the cam and crank gear stayed timed so the internals of the engine should be ok no piston valve contact etc
The parts I need help with Is it possible to remove the gear off the crankshaft while the crank is still in the block and the engine is still in the truck? Am I correct that there are no aftermarket gears available? I can’t seem to find any. Do I need to dig deeper and look to find what may have caused this, or do I just chalk it up to bad luck and me driving too long with a faulty gear in the timing drive system? Any recommendations on where to get all 3 gears? Is the dealership my only option?
Side note, does anyone do tuning anymore. I’m in the market for a tune if this thing gets running again
