We have an 05 GMC envoy XUT in Ks City and my mother is driving it. She parked it at dinner last night and went back to start it up and the key would not move and she could not pull it back out. The key will absolutely not move.

Now I am not sure if she tried to jam the wrong key in it or not????? It's to many miles away for me to know an I really don't want to drive all the way out there and try band fix it. Is there anything else it could be???

Back in the old days of steering wheel locks, if the steering wheel lock pin engaged, it could be a PITA to turn the key. Grab the wheel and try to turn it from side to side while trying to tun the key.

the key would turn to on, but it could not be turned to the off postition it was stuck in the run position. Without being able to go to the OFF position the key would not come out. When the vehicle was jump started and kicked right on. The key has since removed I thought I was going to break the steering column but it cam out. Thankjs for the replys fellas.

I had to post over on trailvoy now our tailget/swing gate will not latch... It just never ends, I hate electronics:mad:

See if you can take the steering column apart and get a look at the lock cylinder. Maybe there's a way to let the key loose from there.

One of the cars I drove had a cable that ran from the center console to the key. That way when it was in park, it would let you turn the key to full off to remove. If not in park, it would not let it turn full off. IIRC GM did this for several years. Have worked on any of the newer models to know if they still do this.
