Hello,

Trying to achieve the best ride / tow ability yet not have any problems with axle wrap. From what I've read, firestone air helper bags with the over load springs removed, nice set of shocks and traction bars is kind of the best of all worlds :thumb: Anyone here running a similar setup?

Im running the airbags and believe over load spring removed with bilstein shocks have horrible axle wrap looking into building some traction bars. So im almost running what u discribed.

Currently I'm running 62-63" long bars, 3" lowering shackles, Bilstein 5100's, PacBrake single convoluted airbags and AirLift Wireless Air compressor system. I've also used Airlift airbags, but I personally think they're a little cheap. I'd try the firestones or PacBrake. Im going to purchase Rancho 9000xl shocks as the Bilsteins are too long after lowering the truck. Very happy with this set-up. There are pics in my garage.

I have the Air Lift bags on the outside of the frame because I have dual 4" exhaust and a B&W turnover ball. There is just not enough room for the bags under the frame, the top pipe was cut out and the piece was flipped over and welded back in for the ball to fit. I have Cal Tracs and it hooks nicely with slicks but rides stiff as crap,no leaf removal. I also have drop shackles. My brother removed the overloads, drop shackles, and used the better kit that goes between the frame and rear, and his rides lots better, and I have never heard him gripe about axle wrap or hopping. He rarely hammers on his though.

I pulled the overload & one other leaf out of the pack and added a block to keep it at stock height. Also have rancho 9000 shocks, pacbrake airbags, a self leveling system and I built cal trac style traction bars. Rides like a half ton and stays at the same height when loaded down.:thumb:
