2003 Duramax motor will be up for sale as I am dropping in an LBZ/6spd with 78K miles. Anything I don't use on the swap will go with the take out motor. This should included the ECM, TCM and possilby the FICM so it should be a full take out for someone.

289K miles
-New Injectors
-Mostly complete/Drop in Ready
-Ran but had some white smoke at idle (hence new injectors)
-Had some blow by due to age/miles but still had good power

Allison Trans
-Rebuilt in 2015
-Works well
-Was a 4wd rear housing but will come with a 2wd housing from the 2006 allison.

What is a good price for this? I am absolutely terrible at judging what is Fair or Reasonable. I want to give someone a good deal that they will be happy with. No sense in spreading bad karma right?

get injector balance rates and main injection rate at idle. do a compression test of all cyl and cap every open hole on the engine and trans. this will help with selling and show you cared about the engine/trans.

trans just a stock rebuild?

Trans has a stock rebuild I believe but could have upgrades. Don't want to promise that as my Neighbor owned the truck before me and was doing injector work then lost the drive to complete it.

It ran and drove fine. Passenger valve cover is off of it right now along with all the parts to do injectors.

I found a great deal on an LBZ so rather that work on the injectors in the truck I am pulling the motor/trans. and installing.

All that considered I wouldn't mind getting my scope out and letting any prospective buyer look at the cylinders.

Good note on the cap's . I will be sure to tape/cap off all hoses/inlets/outlets.

What would people in the forum consider a Great Deal? $5K $2K $1K for the motor and $1K for the Trans along with any extra's like TCM, ECM, etc.? I want to list this as soon as I can on Craigslist so someone has the opportunity to see it in the truck and outside the truck to Know everything was done right.

a 285k engine and trans we know nothing about wont fetch much if you want to move it quick. 2k max if you want to sit on it a while. 800-1k if you want it gone. LB7s dont fetch much complete and a unknown trans doesnt either. you might make more tearing it all down and parting out the engine.

That's what I wanted to know. I want someone to be happy with the deal they get on this combo.

I am not much into parting them out as I don't have the space although I may tear it down so someone can see what they are getting. Might as well have it all apart so new head gaskets can go on along with studs. Much easier to complete that task outside the truck and remove the pan so they can look at the bottom end. Would give more peace of mind.

I appreciate the help.

I sold my LB7 and five speed for $1,700.00, if memory serves.

330,000 miles. Sale included the IP, motor side wiring, throttle pedal assembly, basically everything that got removed from the truck, to do the LBZ swap.

Injectors were beginning to haze.

I pulled the oil pan, bottom end looks great. I will be pulling the Heads as well. I think I may just part out the motor. CP3 is good, I may keep a few other items as spares.

What I would really like to do is a rebuild of it but that is another project I don't need although I really want it!!

Yeah, I had plans of keeping my LB7 and swapping it into a 1965 C10 truck. But my shop is small and I do not have room to store things for a "I hope to" project at some future point in time.

Sold the whole kit and kaboodle.
