Mike (or anyone else in the know), what's the "Official" word on the 02 TCM and Fast Learn? I've read that the 01 TCM was the only one without it, and that it didin't come around until 03. If it is supported in the 02 OS (OS 15172881/Cal 15172884), is there any way to initiate the clutch volume learn other than a Tech2 or DOC? After I flashed the OS, I did "Clear
All Adapts to Fast", Clear All Adapts to Fast + Base" and "Clear All Garage Shift Adapts to Fast + Base". I would have thought that would initiate the "Fastlearn Procedure" unless it's a special procedure that EFILive can't do. The reason I ask is despite the TCM learning, the "C1 Fast" through "C5 Fast" and the trim solonoid fast learn cells are all at 0.

I've done a fast learn with a Tech II before and it is nothing like what EFI does.

It's been several months since I did it, so I couldn't tell you step by step. I kind of fumbled my way through the screens until I found what I was looking for. I do remember that when it was doing the fast learn, it was doing something inside the trans. There was some clunking and jerking going on. Then after it was done with that, it told me to drive around at a constant throttle position and let it shift through the gears.

I'm sure Mike could give you more detailed instructions on how to do it.

Here is a link to the Gm Specs for doing it with the Tech 2 http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?p=236360#post236360

Thanks Henry. Only thing that appears to be missing though is the following:

"Following the REVERSE Mode step, the scan tool exits FastLearn, and the only adaptive cells that remain to be learned are the adaptive volume data for the 4-5 clutch. The vehicle must be driven in order to make at least three 3-4 upshifts on the same ignition cycle and at steady throttle position. This data is learned by the TCM intentionally overfilling the 4-5 clutch. Once this overfill is corrected, the 4-5 clutch volume is learned and all special FastLearn actions are completely disabled."

They are trying to fine tune the C2 clutch which works off full main line pressure as opposed the C3 and C4 working off of control main pressure ( much less pressure ).

You lost me there whats missing?

After you posted that, I looked in Mitchell to see if they had the same info, which they did; the steps Mitchell has (and it looks like what you posted should have) are:

Code:
Four steps are required to successfully complete the FastLearn procedure:
1. PARK Mode
2. DRIVE Mode
3. REVERSE Mode
4. 4-5 Clutch Learn Mode

That snippet I posted earlier is step 4 (according to Mitchell).

Mike, what's the trick with the drive portion of the fastlearn procdure? It states that you need to make at least three 3-4 shifts at a "steady throttle position". does that mean that all the shifts should be at the same position, or keep the throttle at a given % (say 40%) until the shift has completed?

Wouldn't that be the same?:D Shifts depend on throttle position and speed so all you have to do is keep it uniform three times.
