so i have a issue on my hands. about 3 months ago we had a new (napa) starter and a new (genuine) flywheel put in our 02 3/4 ton shop truck. it has started great ever since until yesterday. first thing in the morning it starts great, but drive it to town about 10 miles and kill it. then let it sit for a while and jump in it, its super slow to crank. today i had one instance that it almost didn't crank at all. i checked the batteries today and both were 80% and the cables are clean. i took a volt meter and watched the amp draw while a guy cranked it, it read 500 amps. is that normal for these trucks? any other ideas on the matter?

If i had to guess i'd bet it's a bad starter. I replaced the one in my old lb7 right before I sold it less than a year ago. I believe it's had 2 more since I sold it. I got a new one from oreillys and the guy said it started dragging bad after a couple months. He had to replace it

That's the truth. If they test it at the parts house make them repeat the test several times if it fails at all I'd make them warranty it. But that's just my opinion
