I have a 02 Silverado 2500 HD with a 158000 miles on it . A couple weeks ago I stopped for something to drink . I came out and I had oil dripping off the front of the engine . So I towed the truck home and drained my oil . I figured I had a stuck injector . So filled the crankcase up and put some purple brands injector cleaner in the tank . Truck smoked blue or gray smoke after start up and and as I drove it started going away . . Thought okay it's fixed ? Drove it a couple days to work but in the back of my mind I wondered . So I checked the computer and got a P 1093 code low pressure . Cleared it and a few miles later it came back . No check engine light . So I drove it another day but my oi pressure would start out above 80 and as it warmed up it would drop to under 40 lbs . At idle it would go to 20 lbs . it would never go below 45 any time .So I worried I had diesel in the oil again . I didn't have time to work on it and wasn't sure where to start . So I took it to a garage here in town . Called them today to see how and what was going on . Was told there is an injector leaking . Not sure which one ? They left the truck in the shop during the weekend and it had a puddle of diesel under it a foot in diameter . The crankcase has diesel in it . Now the reason I started this post is because is because I have read the stories of guys replacing injectors and 30 or 40 thousand miles doing it again . I have also read where the expense was just as much as replacing the engine . That was recommended instead of doing injectors . I work on Diesel engines for a living but I am unfamiliar with the duramax .I also have no way to do the checks for fuel pressure and volume . I could do the work but I don't want to have to replace the injectors for a long time . So my question did Gm have a better injector made for the newer engines and will they work in mine . Does somebody out there rebuild or make a better injector then GM ? Cost also is what I am worried about ? I have read estimates in the thousands ? So I need some advice . Thanks for reading

You can search on the forum and there is a lot of information available on injector life and brands. There are two types of injectors for the LB7, 1) the stock VCO style, and 2) SAC style.
The SAC style is more expensive, and requires a custom tune, but might last longer. Again, search and you'll find tons of reading.

This forum is more performance oriented, so everything tends to be presented from that mindset. Injectors will be a couple grand, plus labor to install them, and whatever worn out fuel system components along the way.

Happy searching, and good luck with the injector swap.

I was gonna do an LLY Topend till I read an article on Here about the SAC 45 injectors & thats the Route to take with Any LB7!!! Call the Guys at LDS theyre runnin a sale on the SAC 45s!!! Yes theyre more than the others But they only have to Seal 1 hole vs 7 like the VCO style injectors are known for!!! Afterwards get a single tune via EFI Live & Youll Gain some power & MPGs :)
