Years ago (before I had EFI Live) I had the dealer reflash my TCU with the update that included the 5th gear lockout option. An interesting side effect of that reflash was the untimely downshift from 5th gear if you apply the brakes a little to aggressively while coasting. Does anyone know what operating system I could use that would eliminate this?

use an 01 TCM. The grade braking sucks on it.

Are you saying use an 01 TCM or 01 operating system? My original 02 operating system did not do this nor did it have the 5th gear lock out option. I would like to keep the lock out feature but eliminate the grade braking. If you PM me your email I will dig up my 02 OS and send it to you.
Ben I have noticed that as I have increased my power levels, my grade braking function has increased 10 fold. Don't know why, maybe something in the tune.
My 01 TCM OS does it also in T/H, I do not call it grade braking but smart downshift before a turn
