Well I figured I would update this thread some as I have discovered a flaw in the 02 OS. This may be just the one I'm running(downloaded from DP, both of the ones they list for an 02 are from the same VIN), but there is a definate major flaw or 2 in it. I've found that in reverse with the 02 OS if I accelerate even slightly I will get a clunk sound in the driveline like it is catching into forward(it is exactly what MIKE L. described in a post dealing with drilling the CS apply piston), but when I back out a short distance it will only ocasiionally do it when I first let off the brakes and begin to move. Also I have found that the 4-5 and 5-4 shift points in the TCM are off. They are exactly the same as those in the 01, but the 01 wouldn't go into 5th until 65 whereas the 02 goes in at roughly 60-61. And the 02 will downshift under light throttle at 53-54(55-56 if you let off completely), whereas the 01 will hold down to 50(but still would downshift at 55 when you let off completely.
The 01 OS though gave me a completely different problem that I believe many here have with there ALLISON's. The 3-4 shift would be pretty harsh on the first shift into 4th, or anytime after it hadn't been in 4th or 5th for about 5 minutes like when I would fill up with fuel. The 02 OS doesn't do this hardly at all and is barely noticeable if you can even feel it. But the noise in reverse is not there with the 01 OS. I have noticed that both of them have a crappy 2-1 downshift to them that often clunks at any throtle position below 1/2 throttle. These are just a few observations I have made, and I believe I am going to stick with the 02 as the 3-4 shift is so much better with it.
