LB7: 01 airbox

I'm ironing out some of the last details of my conversion, and I have to get a different airbox as the stock one is too big to clear the hood. I was looking at a few online and they all say they are 3.5" tube where the MAF goes in, but my stock 01 box is 4" where the MAF goes in. Was 01 a one off box or does the smaller tube not mess with the MAF sensor readings?

I believe it was changed in 02. The size of the tube should have no effect BUT I have heard placment or location of the MAF down stream can cause issues.

I know 02 they added the turbo silencer to the air tube just before the turbo intake horn. Is there any aftermarket air intakes that use a 4 hole where the MAF goes in? I will probably have to make a custom intake tube to hook up at the turbo horn down to the airbox as hood clearance will be TIGHT on my conversion. Looks like I may have to go completely custom on the intake.

Unfortunately that one is out of the question for me. I may end up using somw 4" mandrel bends for an exhaust and flatten them out to an oval to clear my hood.
