    LB7: Tow Haul Issue

The transmission acted the same during the whole trip. It was about an hour on Thursday and then an hour home again today. I tried engaging and disengaging the tow button several times. On the way up on Thursday it eventually seemed to do better and quit shifting from 4th to 5th at 55 mph.

    LB7: Tow Haul Issue

Less than 200 deg on this last trip I just took. A few years back I did a quick mod to my transmission cooler by building a air deflector to pass air by the cooler. The stock cooler is behind the bow tie and does not get good flow so the mod really helped out.

    LB7: Tow Haul Issue

I have a 2002 LB7 with 243K that is running and shifting just fine. The last two times I have used it to haul my 5th wheel I noticed that the tow haul does not seem to be working right. The light comes on so its not that. The problem is the shift patterns don't seem to be right. Before when...

    LB7 Cold Air Box DIY

2002 LB7 with 232K miles. I want to show a DIY project that I did on my truck some time ago. I made a cold air box from scratch. I added a scoop to the fender well to direct air in plus I built a air dam into the fog light opening and using ducting routed the air into the box. Sort of copied...

    LB7 external oil cooler add

I have attached some pictures of what areas I have and nothing looks good. If I add it to the normal stack area then i will need to move the trans cooler plus what ever extra heat it adds to the system. If I install it under the bumper then it has to be long and skinny so not sure I have...

    LB7 external oil cooler add

I have a 2002 all stock with 232K mi. Only upgrades are a custom built cold air box (I built), lift pumps, drivers side exhaust manifold, and removed the IAH. Most of the mods I have done are to increase air flow and keep the EGT's down. I do not have any gauges so I don't know what my EGT's...

Turbo CAC and inlet hose insulation

Ok I took it for a test drive and went up and down some hills. Got the engine temp at 190 deg F steady and tranny temp was 150 deg F. Was not pulling a load. I'll have to do it again and right down all the temps but this is what I noticed. The drivers side CAC tubing is way hotter than the...

Turbo CAC and inlet hose insulation

Ok I wrapped the cold side in a radiant barrier heat tape (Scotch 425 aluminum tape) which I already have and doesn't cost me anything. I left the hot side alone and will monitor both. I think I will run a little test on the hot side and apply some tape to a short section and then monitor it...

Turbo CAC and inlet hose insulation

I already have the radient heat barrier tape and a can of bed liner paint is $10. All those other mods cost significantly more money. I would like to do the air horn but when I was replacing my CP3 (6 months ago) I tried to remove it to make the installation easier and I can't get to the...

Turbo CAC and inlet hose insulation

2002 LB7, 225K mi, stock, 40 HP Tune, home made cold air box Since I went to all the trouble of making my own cold air box I wanted to take things a little further and insulate the entire system. I installed radiant barrier heat tape to the plastic intake tube to try and insulate it from...

    High Boost with PPE valve

I guess that makes sense because it reads 14.7 at idle. So when all those articles I read about boost they are talking about Gage pressure and not absolute pressure?

    High Boost with PPE valve

It was from the engine computer.

    High Boost with PPE valve

2002 stock with 225K. New injectors and installed a lift pump 5K miles ago. I put in a PPE valve and with a 40HP tune I was reading a boost of 36 PSI at WOT from a stop. From what I read it's not good to go over 32 PSI. My question is does that sound right, is it possible? is maybe the...

    Turbo making noise

I may have figured it out. looks like the CAC tube at the intercooler inlet is leaking. The clamp looks like it has slipped off. I have to pull the tire and wheel well to fix it and will do tomorrow night.

    Turbo making noise

How do I check end play. I took off the air inlet and can't really get to the fan. I also paid to have the codes checked and it has a P0236B underboost condition and a P0101B mass air flow sensor. I put a re manufactured MFS in it about a year ago. Trying to figure out how to pressurize...

    Turbo making noise

2002 LB7 all stock with 225K. The turbo is making a whining noise under load. If you let your foot off the throttle it will go away and then come back when you start to give it gas again. Seems to happen at higher speeds around 40 MPH or faster. At first I thought it was the fan belt but if...

    LB7 hesitating under load

2002 LB7, new injectors, new rebuilt CP3, new water pump, home made cold air box, lift pump, just flushed transmission with TranSynd I have an ongoing problem that I have been unable to fix. When the transmission shifts it sort of rev's up and then engages, almost sounds like a double...

    LB7: Fuel Trim

I ended up taking it to a mechanic and he found a fuel leak. The return line from the CP3 had a pin hole. I have repaired that but the problem is still there.

    LB7: Fuel Trim

2002 LB7 all stock, 2002 with 213K miles. Recently replaces all (8) injectors and then got a fuel rail pressure code so I replaced the fuel pump and regulator. After getting it running again, it felt like the transmission would jump into neutral right after shifting into 2 or from 2 to 3. It...
