I beat the thing up pretty good, which caused the failure. I was fighting a driveline vibration that started at about 95mph and was extremely bad at 110+mph. Who else has pinned water pumps?
Plstic impeller is the best there is. Welded and pinned pumps are complete junk. Do not even waste your time. You cannot properly weld to a hardened shaft like the water pumps have. Not to mention you're welding cast to steel. It doesn't work and they do not last. Bite the bullet and get a...- mike diesel

This is in my state, 2 counties away from me. He has been fired from both of his jobs over it. He was on several of the local diesel/automotive FB pages that I am on and every single one of the pages really tore him a new one over it. Yes, AFM/DOD is crap. Your lifters/cam will fail, it's just a matter of when. We are in the process of doing an AFM/DOD delete, as well as twin turbos on a buddies Pontiac G8 GT.- mike diesel

Yes, honestly, I am not sure what caused this failure, other than the pistons being of chinese origin. Ring gap was not too tight, as we didn't see the top of the piston break off.- mike diesel

Had some fun with the truck...Fabbed myself a turbo kit utilizing a Borgwarner S369sx-e, then broke a few pistons 2 months later. It ran good though, made 530whp on 8psi. Ran it on 12psi for 2 weeks before pulling the engine. Cheap pistons.... Chinesium! New build coming right along. New rods...- mike diesel

Adding tension to your dayco tensioner
After tossing and shredding literally 20+ belts last season on the StarLite truck, we built a mechanical (solid) tensioner while utilizing the 149" belt. Haven't lost a single belt yet. They only had 1 lane the entire day and it's double sided grand stand seating. The side opposite of the lane they were racing in was nearly empty, the side against the lane we were racing in was pretty full. I'd say there was around 3000 people there yesterday.- mike diesel
