Progress is just too slow.... the reaility is that I will not likely have it done this year. I barely get to touch it 1 day per week, & then only for an hour or 2.

I still cannot believe I got the heater box to fit either. As for the dash, I am trying to get it all in the old housing. Looks to be possible... but I have a lot of fitting ahead of me. Hopefully this weekend I will make some more progeress. Looks like I will have to use a 1.5din...

Man crashes motorized bar stool drunk

I saw a guy crash a bicycle on the side of the road & get hurt. The police showed up with the ambulance & saw that he was drunk. He got a DUI. Does not even have to have a motor if it takes place on a public road.

That CD you bought shows a relocated factory crossmember with mounts welded on. As for my truck, I bolted my crossmember up without taking any pictures. It is too low to get pictures now & will have to wait until the suspension starts to go together. I set it nearly on the floor so I could...

There is a guy selling CD's on Ebay. He shows how to build a vacuum pump mount where the 2nd alternator goes. This can run the vacuum actuators for the AC vents etc.

There is a small 1" body lift on it, but I may have to go a little more. It is an automatic cab with no body modifications. Going out of my way to do this swap without altering the body in any way, so I can make it look factory installed. To anyone contemplating a swap in this type of...

RE - Torque Head Bolts. Waste of time?

Factory bolts are "torque to yield", meaning they are 1 use only. If you loosen them they must be replaced. Also steel shim gaskets do not deform like composition gaskets do, so a retourque is not as important in this application. You could replace your bolts with studs, replacing then 1...

The only close part is the rear 3 bolt flange on the pass side. I have about 1.5" now. Ran into a dilemma as more height gave me floor clearance issues & less made the front frame crossmember closer to the front axle. I managed to retain the stock d-max driveline angle & not cut the floor...

The '78 is rather complete, I just wanted to put a big block in there before I finished it. The front end is brand new GM stuff from 12yrs ago, good parts from before the dies were worn out. The only thing left to finish before paint is the actuators for the tilt stuff & the fenders need...

Leadfoot, Thanks for the kind words. Your truck looks really clean. Took my drivers test in my dads black '77. Brings back memories. PM me your phone # & I'll give you a call sometime. We may be able to trade some parts. This project happened almost accidentally. I have '78 truck...

    Anyone done a duramax conversion

I think they are 1/2 supply & 3/8" return. You will have to do some work to make the dual tanks functional. Check out the fuel tank switches used in marine applications. They are made for high flow & also switch the return line as well.

What I came home to this morning

Some counties were declaring a state of emergency here. Seems like the south west corner of the state got hit really hard. 1 area near Uniontown had close to 80 trees uprooted from the wind.... not much rain either. Just glad it is over.

What I came home to this morning

We got hit pretty hard. They recorded wind gusts to 92mph with extended winds in the 60mph range. It got to the mid 60's ysterday & dropped 25deg in a few hours. My power went out at 8:00pm yesterday & we got it back on at 8:30pm tonight. Over 70,000 people were still without power as of...
