    LLY - Cracked piston

For what it's worth, I tow on a 600 wheel HP tune with stock holddowns, and run 700+ at the track. So I'd say at least 600 HP before you need them. Though I do have the Wagler aluminum heads with the cast-in injector cups, but don't know if that matters. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

Help!! LB7 TCM work on LLY?

If you can start it with starting fluid, but not by just cranking it, that is a mechanical problem that needs addressed. Usually something is preventing rail pressure from building at cranking RPM, such as a weak/worn CP3, failing injectors, restricted fuel supply, air getting in fuel supply...

Help with P0380 code after disconnecting battery.

Did you check and/or replace any glow plugs? From what you've posted here, I get the impression you didn't actually do anything to the truck. The check engine light is trying to tell you what is wrong, but you have to put in a little work. If you have CA emissions (EGR and a cat), the glow plug...

Stand alone ECM need start circuit?

Are you looking to bypass the ECU for starting, as in the ignition switch will hit a relay and engage the starter solenoid directly? I am not sure if the LMM cares or not, but one reason not to do that is you eliminate a couple subtle but important features: Starter disable while running (you...

    Lb7 radiator

I suspect that the options available many years ago were better than what is out there today. I have a Mishimoto radiator in my LB7 Suburban, and it has been perfect. But I have heard that newer Mishimoto stuff is not nearly as good. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

    Lb7 into a 2007 avalanche??

Assuming the 2007 Avalanche is like a 2007 classic truck, and uses the 2003-2007 wiring, it won't be that hard. However, in most states, it wouldn't be legal. You can only swap in a motor of the same year as the chassis, or newer. So check your local vehicle code and emissions laws first. Sent...

Uneven Tire Pressures and Part Time 4WD Transfer Case ?

If it is the selectable 4WD, running in 4x4 on the street is never a great experience, regardless of tire pressure. Any serious turning and the drivetrain binds up. It won't hurt the drivetrain any, but will scrub the tires like crazy. If it is the "auto" 4WD, which was not offered in the...

Help with P0380 code after disconnecting battery.

The code should come back after 2 cold starts, I believe. These trucks are super sensitive to electrical system problems, so it is possible that it was all a result of low voltage or something. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

Help with P0380 code after disconnecting battery.

P0380 usually means a failed glow plug. You can unplug the two connectors on the glow plug controller, and measure the resistance of each pin. It is an easy way to find which glow plugs(s) have failed. IIRC they should be a couple ohms, so if you find one that is much higher or lower than that...

    LLY - Cracked piston

I'd go with a 12mm CP3. Simpler install, tons of power potential, and they are reliable now. I've got 50k miles on mine so far. I reused my lifters when I changed cams, doesn't seem to have any I'll effects. But replacing them might be worth some peace of mind. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using...

LLY Rebuild - Break in Procedure

I broke my engine in like James. First start no coolant, found I left an oil gallery plug out. Made oil pressure anyway, but a couple seconds of idling and there was oil freaking everywhere. Fixed/cleaned that up, added coolant, idled it for a couple minutes to make sure everything seemed good...

    Alternator parts

On the truck I am using the stock wiring; shockingly haven't melted the OEM fusable link. I keep meaning to upgrade it though. On the car I ran a 1/0 wire straight to the battery.

    Alternator parts

So far so good on the truck. Still seems to be working perfectly! Though I got one for my car and that didn't go so well. It burned out a diode pack and caught on fire after a couple weeks. They RMA'd it, but I have been too chicken to put the replacement on.

4wd not engaging but actuator works

What you describe for 4Hi is correct. The front diff is open, so spinning the driveshaft will only turn one tire. The actuator might be going bad, and didn't go into 4Hi the first time. When you select 4Lo and get neutral, that sounds like the feedback circuit inside the actuator is going out...
