    2018 l5p high county U18A2 help

By sheer odds, I went to technical college in the mid 80s when TBI had just released, with plans to become a full fleged automotive design engineer. ASE Master Tech certs and all that jive in 87. But by 95 was switching careers to my first love computers. Got involved with building this new fad...

I know where there is LMM truck driving around today with 2 pieces of mig wire in place of the GPCM. About 5 years back, a buddy called me with no start issues, and after a bit of digging I found the GPCM was shorting the CANbus wires. All he had handy was a mig welder, and roll of electrical...

Ya made a guy who spends all day working on CANbus hardware, actually google term canbus plugs... The way GM daisy chained all their nodes, going clear back to early 2007 years is completely insane and against all known CANbus network engineering design practices. Ya Tee these nodes together...

If it's on the HS CANbus, ya should be able to communicate with that fuel pump module using something like a SnapOn or GM tools. If so, then ya know it's speaking and problem isn't bus connection related. If it doesn't speak OBD messages, then will take more work to verify if it's connected...

@pl_silverado see my last post above. I believe you have all those different speed sensor in hand? If so, please ohm out the pins between and let us know the values.

Thank You @Baddiode that helps.. I'm with ya on the retro part for the VSS sensor, and reason needing the pinout before I connect those wires.. I have one good mid 2000's VSS with unknown part # on the bench. Pulled a couple from 4L80's in my buddies transmission pile couple summers back to use...

Got the bench reluctor test rig all set. Can adjust the air gap easy enough. According to my math, spins 4600Rpm. The converted patterns using the Max chip looks good on the scope. However was having issues with TCM accepting any of my emulated signals last night. Arduino or the VR to Hall. To...

That isn't a bad idea, as long as the ref voltage never exceeds a set ref value. Believe I measured 10v on our T87 Pin 7 and 8. But it could be a clean, inline, size of a dime fix to our who ran what for what year sensors. However we still have to manipulate some canbus traffic, no matter...

I explored several options to do the same job including capacitor based designs, but those always follow the AC voltage. So at lower RPM they may only produce a 0.5v square wave. I noticed this TCM doesn't like a PWM signal which typically satisfies the older TCM's sensors, unless the duty cycle...

Hey @Baddiode, when you have a moment, please pull up the TCM diagrams for a 2016 LML truck. Would like to see if any difference to be had in wiring between the 15-16 T87 and the 2019 T87A data you shared.

Next I captured the Arduino output, my PWM signal generator, and then connected the GM sensor to that VR to Hall converter I picked up a few weeks back. And wouldn't ya know it, that little sucker actually works as advertised. So next I return the scope, and then hook up our Analog speed sensor...

No.. I didn't have one handy.. But I did have that starter from my Nitro RC Heli days laying around waiting for the right time to come of use again. It has some brush issues, but still spins up if ya wiggle the wires right. Then I picked up the recluctor ring tonight, and it just so...

Ok, I discovered that rubber alone won't hold a 1lb steel ring onto an aluminum hub. It just missed my tv/monitor when it came outa balance. However, superglue will hold rubber to steel, and rubber to aluminum, if used in abundance. And with a little luck on centering and balance, I've...

Found a ring. Another 4l80 donor. Now we can generate some real world patterns. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Factory hubs should work fine to generate a nice clean pulse. But my idea of spin it with a belt, didn't pan out. So now plan is pick up a standard output shaft reluctor wheel, and mound it to this old RC aircraft starter motor. Then can test multiple sensor types against it easily. I also...

In my case, that's probably correct voltage as the bench capture, is ecm and tcm running on a deep cycle battery with no charger connected. But typically I also see it reading .3-.5 under actual battery. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Sorry, I missed your actual question. Use the wheel hub and pickup to generate a live sine wave signal. But unless I mount a wheel on it, ya not gonna spin very fast by hand or drill.. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Ok, hooked up my latest Arduino board with the same 5v Crank/Cam emulator software used for running ECM's. Modified it to have a single 40 pulse wheel, and connected it to the T87 Input and Output speed sensor lines. With the Allison OS, it tracks RPM perfectly. And I quickly noticed the Input...

Only one way to solve this. Think we need a spinning reluctor wheel work bench setup. 🎡 I grabbed a front wheel hub off an F350 my buddy changed out last week. Only to git it home and discover it doesn't spin freely.. Imagine that. Back to the drawing board.. Need another 40 tooth wheel like I...
