Thanks for hashing that out. I knew it would be a tight fit up there, but at least we have off the shelf connector options.

Yeah I'm with ya on busting the old sensor out of that metal unit, and then epoxy the new sensor into it. Need a way to set that depth, and the thread with an O-Ring for spacers if needed be easy to test with. Just saw your post about the different threads. So plastic should do it then.

Nice find on the bracket.. Please share a picture mounted up if ya have one. So far what we've been testing with is only the 15-16 T87 hardware and OS versions for diesel an gassers. However the hard data for reference, is only for the T87A. Nobody here has actually tested an 87A yet, and we...

Well that takes the Easy out of the equation again.. I was betting on that new sensor being a smaller diameter. Back to the drawing board.. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Here ya go @Baddiode. This early model VSS is what I was thinking "might" be of some use for anyone wishing to convert to Hall sensors. If could source this threaded steel housing part, finding a new style hall sensor that fits the hole might be easier than printing a custom adapter.. Made in...

The CANbus messages "Required" by the 87 TCM to keep it running happy vary by OS. What's required by the 16 gasser version, doesn't line up exactly with the 16 Allison version. But mostly it's messages missing in these earlier models, which was added by GM to the later platforms. Those are...

Two ways this could be wired up. Since we need a CANbus chip and processor manipulating some data packets, that same board can convert 12v to 5v an 3.3v, which we share with our 5v VR converter. Second way, we design or use an off the shelf PCB circuit that works with our existing 12v or 9v...

According to the signal data from the bin posted a couple pages back, and what I've noted so far in bench testing, the 87 TCM looks for a 0-5v range rather than a resistance value on the ADC pins. For the 9V Ref lines, these VR converter circuits don't actually draw any power to operate. They...

That rear sensor is the one which will take a bit of work to get right. Could probably 3D print a threaded adapter, but the air gap to the wheel more critical on a Hall than the VR types. But yes, ya should be able to just clamp a new style vss in an adapter and done. I've researched all the...

I'm located in southeast Ohio, so I'm pretty close to ya. @pl_silverado said he was gonna send me a new style sensor, but I can grab one at the local parts store also if need. IMO, the easy fix is just stick one of these little dual line VR to Hall converters in the harness and leave all the...

It's gonna be an octopus looking adapter cable. The T87 requires both shaft speeds in 0-5v square wave signal format. Both inputs and output sensors would need to be changed, or the signal they produce converted to 5v from the AC sine wave type used up until 2015. The A40/A50 generates theTOS...

Ok kids I just ran out of Caffeine, but solved it. And luck have it, with results in our LMM/LBZ favor... I reset the speed limit in the LMM ECM to 80km/h. Which should reflect as fuel cut at a much lower output shaft rpm. Tested it, and now cuts the fuel around 2000rpm. Which verifies the ECM...

Ok so I loaded the Allison tune back into the T87 and connected to my E35B on the bench. Running the same tune file with speed limit disabled. I set the Engine Emulator RPM up around 2500R, and ran the Output Speed Sensor emulator all the way up to 8000Rpm. Noted zero change to fueling data...

If I can ever get my hands on a LML year valve body for the bench, I could add some type of input on that. But for now, we gonna have to go with your best guesstimate..

I'm thinking the TOS is "Depreciated" as they like to tag it in some other protocols. The LMM uses the TOS as some possible reference to the high speed GMLAN messages it's getting from the TCM. I just finished verifying some canbus related hacks to the gasser OS. Now going to get the...

Follow up to last, as was walking and typing.. By default I'm pretty certain that the LMM ECM uses only the CANbus data for all relevant tables. I can verify this on the bench in a few. But right now the tune I have loaded on bench unit is one of my all cax'd out stand alone versions from boat...

I pulled up my running LMM config, and while EFI update has the switches for the E38, I don't see it in the E35B release. However somewhere I have a CAX file saved to change between CANbus and VSS Hi as the input options. Not really relevant for this endeavor, but at least we know it's in the...
