    E35B Post-Flash Issue - Am I alone?

Can they replicate it locally? Or do they not have a compatible ECU on hand. It seems really reproducible from what I've read here. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

How to tell if it is the power steering pump or the steering box?

X2, just use ATF. Switched all my vehicles from "real" power steering fluid to ATF years ago and haven't noticed any change in steering, good or bad. But like Jason says, it is one less fluid to have to keep on the shelf.

    A/C line leaking at fitting

I have also replaced a couple of those, even have the special socket. I usually just put a new stock-style one on, figured the first one lasted 15+ years, why bother changing it? I have schrader valves fail all the time too, I don't think the rubber ball is inherently worse. Like Ron said...

    Boost leak/injector questions

Yeah, those injectors are long gone from what you describe. The good news is they now make the updated SAC-style injectors for the LB7, which seems to take care of the short injector life. You can get them in stock size if you don't want to run a tune ("SAC00") or a lot of people go with the...

    Rebuilding my lb7

That's the truth for sure. It is equal parts exciting and annoying to compare the parts I had to buy 8+ years ago for my build vs. what you can get now to hold the same power.

    Body control module issues?

Agreed, that sounds like a power or ground issue. Check for corrosion or damaged wires under the fuse block in the engine compartment. Look at the condition of the ground near the driver's side body mount under the door on the frame.

    Boost leak/injector questions

Highly likely the injectors are toast. You can diagnose them further if you want. Balance rates are part of the equation, but you want to look at the main fuel rate on hot idle with the A/C off and in park. Should be 7-10 mm³, generally as the injectors fail they leak so that drops. Seen some as...

So I bought a blown up truck yesterday

Welcome! The LB7 gets a bad rep, but it's my favorite generation. I'd recommend doing head studs when you're in there, and with some SAC injectors you'll have a nice reliable truck without any emissions garbage to worry about. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

    Lb7 build

My motor build had the vertical scratching the same way at 500 miles, but no additional wear after 15k miles when the heads came off again. Long story short, I had powder coated a bunch of stuff and somehow got sandblast media in the oil cooler, which scored the cylinder walls on first start...

    06 LBZ smoke output issue

What cam is in it? My motor is useless off the line with 3 different turbo setups now, but I have a big stupid cam, and I knew that would be a possibility when I picked this cam. So an aftermarket cam can make it smokey down low. Have you done a compression test?

    LBZ: glow plug delete

Per Techline, pins 43 & 44 are the CAN bus. Stick a 120Ω resistor across those two pins and see if communications start working.

June '23 Chat - Will BBT be in the wedding?

I know they did a sled pull in Weiser (small town near my farm) last year. Let me see if I can find out who ran that event and what they would rent the sled for. I am surprised it is that much for Firebird. When I get my truck back with the compounds (been in the shop since January, oof) I will...

June '23 Chat - Will BBT be in the wedding?

I have a farm here in rural Idaho. I might have to double check the creeping death of over-regulation hasn't spread out that far in Idaho before actually doing a sled pull there. We also have Firebird Raceway, a pretty legit 1/4 mile strip, though it is a full hour from the farm.

June '23 Chat - Will BBT be in the wedding?

Heck, we should do our own event! I guess it would be Duramax-only, but if the goal is to get out and have fun, it would certainly do that.

Break-in method for just new rings

IMO 90% of breaking in an engine is seating the rings, so yes, if you replace the rings, you need to break in the engine again. If you swapped heads (for example) no break in is needed. But the rings will need to bed in after you have the block honed. What finish are you targeting on the...

Break-in method for just new rings

Everyone has their own theory on how to break in engines. One thing I like to point out is every new Duramax is started by an engine dyno prior to going in the truck, so even GM thinks a bit of load is good for them. If the motor will sit for a year before the first start, put a ton of assembly...

If you were to build a 2023 lbz

If the stock steering boxes would hold together and not leak, there wouldn't be so many of us desperate for any form of an upgrade. I totally understand having 100 pages of discussion. I'm one more steering failure away from going full hydro, assuming I survive yet another snapped pitman arm or...

    AC issues

Officially, the _legal_ way to remove some refrigerant is with a recovery machine. Just venting it is not allowed. That said, you can remove refrigerant from either the high or low side with the system off or operating. The easiest is probably to release some with the truck off. Knowing how...

    AC issues

The GMT800 has a massive accumulator, so going a can past full probably won't be enough to draw liquid into the compressor. Plus it sounds like it will leak back down soon enough anyway [emoji12] The high side not being as high as you'd expect could just be the system not being under full load...

June '23 Chat - Will BBT be in the wedding?

For a race application, especially if you're staying LB7, then 2001-2002 is not meaningfully different. There's some complications with overdrive lockout, but for racing that's not an issue, as you can just adjust the trans tuning to do what you want. Most of the differences are in the body...
