    That I'm not sure about,sorry I didn't realize you're talking about the coolant heater, mine is a bunk heater only but I think they use the same pumps.

    the webasto ones I've used would prime on their own eventually, it'll pump for a while and if the burner doesn't get fuel it'll throw a code. All I had to do was turn it off for a couple seconds and and restart it to clear it and it would try again. I haven't really had any problems with the...

    If I'm not mistaken ticking sounds are all you'll here out of the pump, if there's a filter in the line I'd replace that first and make sure it's primed.
