2-Stroke Oil as a fuel additive???

Had an ol' timer stop in today and as always we ran the gamut of conversations, so at one point he tells me he's been running 2 stroke oil as a fuel additive in his 24v. So I'm like ok? for how long? he said since he brought the truck and it has about 225 on the clock with the same vp44 and lift pump. Sooooo with the uls fuel we have today it doesn't “sound” like a bad idea. ANY OPINIONS on this. Oh and the fuel he used to make for tractor pulling is..... well…… way out there......<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I've heard of other people using 2-stroke oil as a additive.Some swear by it also!

Would I? No as with the cost of these Bosch Injectors and system I'll stick with a non-alcohol base fuel additive.

Ashless 2 stroke oil is one of the reccomended lubricity additrives to combat ULSD that we now get at the pumps. Back when teh ydid the lubricity tests they found that plain old 2 stroke when mixed at 200:1 was 2nd only to bio-diesel at 2% for lubricity and protection levels to combat wear from ULSD. Just make sure it is a decent quality ashless 2 stroke oil and it is good for your fuel system(not good if you have a DPF or cat though as it can increase particulate output).

In the Cat engines we had in our trucks in Iraq the injectors kept going out so the mechanics had us putting transmission fluid in the fuel which some how worked and stopped te injector problems we were having

While older mechanical injection systems seemed to like ATF, these comon rail systems have much tighter clearances and dont handle ATF well. They do however love 2stroke oil. I use a cheap TCW3 rated oil, at a quart to a tank (24 galons) and i have had good luck. Seems to keep balance rates in check, and some people say it seems to make the truck quieter and smoother, but i think that is all subjective. In any case, i run Howes addative in half the recomended amount and 2stroke oil, seems to work well for me.

I have been running Costal Type F ATF in my truck for the last 50,000 miles. Fill the fuel filter with it at changes and between 2-4 quarts at fill up. Before ATF I used Lucas. Costal is the cheapest I could find besides the Love Station Brand. Balance rates are good and the truck runs better with it than without. Truck has 137,000 with no issues, I will continue to use it.

I run Super Tech 2 stroke oil from Wal-Mart. Seems to work well. 16oz per fill up. I was reading that ATF has a high ash content so I went away from that.

Good ol Wally world 2-stroke here. 16-20oz per fill up. Smooths it out & quietens it too IMO.

i have been running ATF for about 4 years now. I put anywhere from a quart to a couple gallons in lol....Im not bashful about it. I have put as much as 2 gallons of ATF and 1 gallon of hyd fluid in at once just to get rid of it. Hasn't hurt anything yet

Thats crazy! 2 gallons of atf and a gal of hyd!!! in one shot.
